The property, situated merely two minutes from the beach, required a complete overhaul of both it’s interior and exterior. The client wanted the outdoor space to resonate with the coastal environment, incorporating elements that would blend seamlessly with natural beauty of Mermaid Beach.

However, the existing timber deck, a central feature of the outdoor area, posed an immediate challenge. While we initially planned to refurbish the deck by replacing the boards, it quickly became apparent that the underlying frame was severely compromised due to water damage and inadequate waterproofing over the years.

This unexpected setback required a reassessment of our approach to ensure we could create a solution that your look amazing for many years to come.

Our strategy centered around several key goals: preserving the coastal aesthetic, enhancing the functionality of the outdoor space, and addressing the structural issues that had arisen.

The timber deck, originally intended for a simple refurbishment, became the focal point of our efforts.

Upon discovering the extent of the water damage, we made the decision to remove the entire structure and rebuild it from the ground up, ensuring that the new deck would be able to withstand the elements for decades to come.

In addition to the deck we proposed extending the pool area to create a more open and inviting space. By slightly reducing the garden, we were able to introduce more concrete and tiling, providing additional room for sunbathing and relaxation.

This adjustment not only maximised the use of space but also enhanced the overall flow of the outddoor area, making it a versatile space for both leisure and entertaining.

The solution involved a complete reconstruction of the deck, using high-quality materials and advanced waterproofing techniques to ensure longevity. The new deck with the rest of the project, knowing that the deck would serve as a durable and attractive centrepiece for the outdoor space.

The extended pool area, with it’s new tiling and expanded concrete surrounds, create a spacious, open environment that invited relaxation and enjoyment.
