Tucked away in a quiet suburban setting, this outdoor space had plenty of potential but lacked functionality and character. Our clients wanted more than just a backyard, they envisioned a stylish, low-maintenance retreat where they could relax, entertain, and create lasting family memories.
Our challenge was to bring this vision to life by designing a modern, inviting outdoor area that seamlessly blended comfort and practicality while making the most of the available space.
The backyard was untidy and underutilised. With no clear zones for entertaining or relaxing, the space felt disconnected from the rest of the yard and uninviting.
Our challenge was to design and construct an area that not only looked stunning but also maximised usability while remaining easy to maintain for our clients.
To bring the client’s goals to life, we collaborated with our landscape architect to design a layout that was both practical and visually appealing. The strategy focused on creating distinct zones for entertaining, dining, and relaxation, which improved the flow and functionality of the space. We also ensured a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor areas, maximising the use of space.
Durable, low-maintenance materials were chosen to guarantee long-term practicality, while greenery and soft landscaping added warmth and vibrancy to the backyard.
To make this vision a reality, we needed to start afresh by removing the old backyard elements and completely reimagining the layout. The design included a hardwood deck and an enclosed patio with lighting, a ceiling fan, and an outdoor BBQ area, all aimed at creating a versatile and welcoming space for year-round entertaining.
With the old backyard removed, we transformed the space into a beautifully structured and highly functional area. The new Spotted Gum deck provided a warm and inviting foundation, while the sleek custom-poured concrete BBQ bench incorporated an integrated beer fridge, making outdoor entertaining effortless.
Artificial turf replaced patchy, high-maintenance grass, offering a lush appearance year-round with minimal upkeep. The enclosed patio, fitted with lighting and a fan, ensured the space could be used comfortably any time of year.
To add visual interest and create a seamless transition, we incorporated Matala circular steppers leading to the decking. Finally, a Heliconia-lined backdrop introduced a lush, tropical feel, completing the transformation.
The result is a sophisticated and highly functional outdoor living space that the family can enjoy for years to come.
The new design maximises every inch of the backyard, blending practicality with modern aesthetics. With a dedicated space for relaxation, dining, and entertaining, the space is now an inviting extension of the home that perfectly complements the existing pool area.
