This Gold Coast property underwent a complete outdoor transformation, turning an outdated and underutilised backyard into a modern and inviting entertainment space.
With a pool renovation, complete overhaul of the landscaping, and a carefully planned mix of materials, the new outdoor area now offers both functionality and style, creating the perfect space for family and friends to enjoy.
The existing outdoor space presented several challenges. The outdated pool, retaining wall and old clay pavers made the area look tired, while the poor layout and large portions of wasted space offered little value to the homeowners.
The property was located on a battleaxe block, which made access to the site difficult.
The goal was to reimagine the space, maximising its potential while maintaining a low-maintenance yet sophisticated design.
To address these challenges, a thoughtful landscape design was developed to optimise the available space and introduce modern materials for a seamless, contemporary finish. The key elements of the plan included:
The transformation began with the excavation of the existing retaining wall which was replaced with a clean, rendered retaining wall with additional Colorbond Steel fencing for enhanced privacy.
The pool renovation followed, where new pebblecrete and a sleek tile band gave it a fresh, contemporary look. The coping was carefully chosen to match the new porcelain tiles, ensuring a seamless visual flow throughout the outdoor space.
To enhance usability and define different zones within the backyard, Spotted Gum hardwood decking was introduced, providing a natural contrast to the porcelain tiles. This strategic combination of materials not only added visual interest but also created a more inviting and practical layout.
A lush selection of potted greenery was incorporated to soften the space while keeping maintenance minimal. To complete the transformation, a high-end entertaining area was designed, featuring:

We really love the transformation of our backyard. Adam was the only person willing to take on our difficult project. It was difficult because of the enormous retaining wall which needed to be excavated and replaced with our gorgeous new retaining wall! We also had difficult access and they made it work. Our pool has been rejuvenated from a very dated 80s style pool to a terrific modern oasis… Adam and Greg were so available for communication and very easy to deal with. Their whole team were very professional and we would use Lynx again if we had another project….
